The objective of the research was to determine the relationship between the nurse's level of knowledge and the care of the premature newborn in the Neonatology service of the Eleazar Guzmán Barrón Hospital, Nuevo Chimbote, 2022. The sample universe consisted of 31 nurses working in the Neonatology service, who met the inclusion criteria. The instruments used were the Questionnaire to measure the level of knowledge of the nurse and the checklist for determining nursing care of the preterm infant. The information collected was processed in the IBM SPSS STATISTICS Version 27 program. The results showed that the level of knowledge of nurses was high in 48.4 percent; regular by 45.2 percent and low by 6.4 percent; nurses' care was adequate in 83.9 percent and inadequate in 16.1 percent. It is concluded that there is a highly significant relationship between the level of knowledge and care of the nurse in the preterm newborn (p=0.001).
