Observational analysis showed significant relationships between knowledge and nursing care, indicating crucial insights for neonatal care.
The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge about brain development and nursing care to promote the brain development of premature neonates hospitalized in the Neonatology service of the Belén Hospital in Trujillo. The study sample was made up of 30 nurses who work in said hospital and who met the inclusion criteria. The instruments used were the Questionnaire to identify the level of knowledge of the nurse about brain development (CINCESDC) and the Checklist to determine nursing care that favors brain development (LCDCEFDC). Regarding the results, 56.6% of nurses obtained a high level of knowledge, 26.7% obtained a medium level of knowledge and 16.7% obtained a low level of knowledge. Regarding nursing care that favors brain development, it was found that 83.3% were adequate and 16.7% were inadequate. In this way, it was proven that there is a highly significant relationship between the level of knowledge and nursing care regarding the brain development of premature neonates (p=0.000).
