This study explores the critical relationship between food safety practices and sustainability within the global food industry, addressing how these practices contribute to the long-term viability of food systems. As environmental pressures, population growth, and food security concerns intensify, the integration of food safety with sustainability goals has become a key area of focus. The research highlights that effective food safety protocols not only safeguard public health by preventing contamination and foodborne illnesses but also significantly reduce food waste, thereby contributing to resource efficiency and minimizing environmental impact. Technological advancements, such as blockchain and artificial intelligence, play a transformative role in enhancing both food safety and sustainability by improving traceability, transparency, and proactive risk management across the supply chain. However, disparities in regulatory frameworks and enforcement, particularly between developed and developing countries, pose significant challenges to the widespread adoption of integrated food safety and sustainability practices. The study also underscores the growing influence of consumer behavior, with increasing demand for transparency, ethical sourcing, and sustainable food production driving industry changes. Despite the progress made, challenges remain, particularly in balancing the environmental impact of packaging materials with food safety needs. The findings emphasize the importance of harmonizing food safety and sustainability standards, fostering international cooperation, and investing in education and training across the food supply chain to build a culture that supports both safety and sustainability. Additionally, there is a need for continued research and innovation to address emerging challenges and ensure that the food industry can meet the evolving demands of both safety and sustainability. This study demonstrates that the integration of food safety practices with sustainability goals is essential for the development of a resilient and sustainable food system, capable of supporting global food security while protecting public health and the environment for future generations.
