The management of Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFUs) is one of the most challenging medical issues. The important factors leading to DFUs are ischaemia, neuropathy, infection and poor blood sugar control. Delayed wound healing or non-healing of the DFU is often attributed to inadequate wound assessment, inappropriate footwear and failure to implement pressure off-loading and poor infection control. Applying the basic principles of wound management can help in achieving complete wound closure.
