The author analyzed Classical Chinese poems written by ChatGPT, a representative of generative AI, which are similar in style to those of Su Dongpo. The results showed that the poems composed by ChatGPT largely imitated the language of Su Dongpo, and when new lines were generated, they either learned from modern Chinese idioms or adapted from the works of poets from other eras. Notably, while the original poems of Su Dongpo allowed the poetic speaker to unfold imagination through memories and encounters with objects or landscapes, ChatGPT often relied on cliché methods of typical object imagery or produced somewhat odd lines that did not align with the overall poetic meaning of the first part. While a 'work' is a space, a 'text' is a network. A text is anything that can be read and written. This independent utility does not conclusively determine whether we can regard the output of ChatGPT as a Work, but it does demonstrate that it can function as a mechanism to free the mind from the constraints of human performance bound by time and from physical locations, providing room and potential to be sufficiently accepted as a Text.
