Textbook have a significant role to build students' views andperceptions of gender. Gender representation in teachingmaterials can influence the way students understand the roles ofmale and female in society. This research aims to analyze genderrepresentation in textbook using a quantitative approach and thegender representation grid developed by Brugeilles and Cromer(2009). The findings reveal a significant dominance of malecharacters in the representation within the textbook. The numberof male characters presented is considerably higher than that offemale characters. Moreover, male characters tend to beassigned roles that align with gender stereotypes prevailing inpatriarchal societies. This indicates an imbalance in genderrepresentation within the textbook. These findings carrysignificant implications for creating inclusive and diverselearning materials to ensure they reflect gender equality anddiversity within society. By understanding and recognizing thisimbalance, it is hoped that content developers will be motivatedto produce more representative and gender-sensitive materials.
