Infrared thermal imaging detection is an effective method to detect faults in composite insulators, but various reasons can cause abnormal heating of composite insulators. Therefore, distinguishing abnormal heating caused by different reasons is particularly important for the safety, stability, and economic operation of the power system. This article conducts in-depth analysis and testing on the heating fault of 220 kV composite insulators, establishes a three-dimensional model, and simulates and analyzes the moisture defects of the core rod at three different defect positions, providing a certain reference value for studying the fault mechanism of composite insulators.
