In the modern world, the success of any team, its cohesion and organization largely depends on several factors: competent leadership and integration of the accumulated experience of the mentoring institute. Internal affairs agencies are no exception. Today, a young employee is required not only to have professional qualities and knowledge of the law, but also to be able to quickly adapt to environmental conditions, develop stress tolerance, and constantly improve himself. A mentor helps to overcome most of the difficulties on the way to becoming a future professional in many ways. The subject of this article is the norms of criminal procedure legislation, prescriptions of subordinate normative legal acts that regulate relations in the field of implementation and interaction of procedural control of the head of the investigative body and pedagogical mentoring, law enforcement practice in this area, the works of other scientists on this topic, statistical data, as well as the results of previously conducted sociological research. The purpose of this study is to develop theoretical provisions and recommendations concerning the implementation of procedural control by the head of the investigative body over the activities of the investigator, aimed at the professional development of the investigator's personality, rapid integration into the departmental environment, adaptation and improvement of the necessary professional qualities.
