The Role of the Strategic Approach in Management of Urban Development

The article is devoted to a critical analysis of a national practice of strategic management. The performed analysis made it possible to come to the conclusion that the activities for developing strategies are separated from the activities for their implementation at all levels of public authority. Using the example of activities of implementing social infrastructure development projects, it is shown that instead of developing overly optimistic scenarios and strategies, it is necessary to take into account the available statistical data, pay attention to negative trends and take measures to level them out.
