Productive longevity of Simmental cows of different intrabreed types

The author has set the urgent task of studying the productive longevity of Simmental cattle belonging to different intrabreed types. The conducted studies showed that cows of the meat-and-dairy type had a life expectancy and a period of productive use that was less than their peers of the dairy and dairy-meat types; the difference was 475; 230 days and 448;161 days, respectively. The milk yield for one day of productive use in animals of the meat-dairy type was 3.9-6.1 kg lower than that of the dairy-meat and dairy types, and in terms of lifetime milk yield they were inferior to their peers of the dairy type by 5647.9 kg, milk-meat – by 3478.8 kg. The obtained data on the duration of productive use and lifetime milk yield, taking into account the linear affiliation within different production types of Simmental cattle, allow us to consider the Redad line to be the most promising for use on the farm as the main one, to increase the period of productive use.
