The relevance of the study of the industry of the Russian Federation is connected with its important role as a key driver of development of the Russian economy, therefore it is necessary to analyze its current state, identify the main problems and give an overview of trends and prospects of this industry in the digital economy. The purpose is to identify the main trends in the functioning and priority areas of development of the Russian industry based on the analysis of its current state. Method and methodology of work. The article used methods of analysis and synthesis of statistical information for 2018 - 2022, methods of comparison and generalization, statistical grouping. Results. The main trends in the development of industrial enterprises (automation of production, search for new markets, expansion of production capacity, increasing the level of competitiveness, development of digitalization and use of the latest information technologies), leading and lagging regions of Russia were identified. Conclusion. Digital competitiveness, including digital strategy, innovation culture, digital skills and competencies, innovative technologies and digital interaction, is a priority for the development of the industrial sector.
