In this study, we numerically analyzed the combustion mechanism of electrically controlled solid propellants to explore the effects of electrochemical reactions and Joule heating on combustion characteristics. The heat sources from electrochemical reactions and Joule heating effects were applied to the propellant separately to analyze which factor has a more dominant influence on the combustion reaction. As a result, it was found that the heat source from electrochemical reactions has a greater influence on the combustion reaction of the propellant than the heat source from Joule heating effects, and it was also confirmed that combustion starts from the anode and progresses across the entire domain due to the characteristics of the propellant used in this study. Additionally, the validity of the code was verified by comparing the experimental results with the simulation results, and it was confirmed that there was no significant difference between the two results.
