Families with at-risk children face challenges such as poverty, domestic violence, mental or physical health problems, addictions and lack of social resources. Social services have a role to manage these risks by integrating appropriate theories and methods to identify effective solutions. The main theories used include social systems theory, social exchange theory and social bonding theory.
