The northeast region of China, consisting of Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces, has faced economic difficulties and recession in recent decades. This study evaluates the status of innovative entrepreneurship in the Northeast region through quantitative analysis of Peking University's Regional Innovative Entrepreneurship Index of China (IRIEC) panel data. It has been established that the level of innovative entrepreneurship in the region as a whole is growing. It is noteworthy that the level of innovative entrepreneurship in Liaoning Province is above the national average, while in the neighboring provinces of the Northeast region — Jilin and Heilongjiang — below average, which reduces the overall region level. The level of innovative entrepreneurship varies across provinces within the region, but it does not show consistency with the level of economic growth.
