If a child with disabilities is born into a family, relationships within the family are distorted. The cause of the disorder is the psychological characteristics of the child, emotional stress caused by the need for constant child care. The fact that a child is born «not like everyone else» is the cause of severe stress experienced by parents, primarily the mother. Mothers often experience hysterics and depression. The fears that overcome women about their unborn child give rise to feelings of loneliness, loss and a feeling of «the end of life.» Mothers are with their children constantly. Often, such mothers are characterized by a decrease in mental tone and low self-esteem, which manifests itself in a loss of taste for life, professional career prospects, and the inability to realize their own creative plans. The authors, studying the factors influencing the formation of psychoemotional characteristics of parents, in particular mothers raising children with special needs, identified some problems in the formation of their psycho-emotional state: special stereotypical attitudes towards children with special needs and their mothers in families; problems of inter-spousal relations and distribution of responsibilities between them; problems of child upbringing and socialization.
