Purpose. Studying the role of visual evoked potentials in optic neuropathies of various origins. Material and methods. 20 patients (34 eyes) diagnosed with ischemic, inflammatory and posttraumatic optic neuropathy underwent examination: visual flash evoked potentials, visometry, biomicroscopy, ophthalmoscopy, static perimetry, MSCT of the brain, MRI of the brain. Results. Visual evoked potential findings vary depending on the etiology of optic neuropathy. The most common cause of optic neuropathy is ischemic lesions of the optic nerve, followed by damage to the optic nerve of inflammatory origin. The smallest number of patients had post-traumatic disorders. Conclusion. The method of visual evoked potentials is very informative in making the correct diagnosis and prescribing adequate, pathogenetic treatment.
