Purpose. To evaluate the degree of effectiveness of transcranial magnetic stimulation in patients with optic nerve atrophy of various origins. Material and methods. In 32 patients diagnosed with partial atrophy of the optic nerve of various etiologies, the following research methods were performed: visometry, tonometry, static perimetry, biomicroscopy, ophthalmoscopy, visual flash evoked potentials, electroneuromyography, magnetic resonance imaging, multislice computed tomography. Results. The use of pharmacotherapy in combination with a course of transcranial magnetic stimulation made it possible to effectively improve and stabilize the visual functions of patients with optic nerve atrophy in a short period, whereas the use of pharmacotherapy alone without a course of transcranial magnetic stimulation allowed for a slight improvement in visual functions. Conclusion. The use of transcranial magnetic stimulation in combination with drug therapy in the treatment of optic nerve atrophy of various origins has increased the effectiveness of treatment.
