In Central Asian countries pterygium occupies one of the leading places among ocular pathologies, one of the surgical methods of its treatment is layer-by-layer corneal transplantation, which allows to achieve good both functional and cosmetic Results. At the same time the method has disadvantages, in order to prevent which in this work the authors used the method of combined treatment of recurrent pterygium with the use of corneal collagen crosslinking (photomodification). Pterygium removal in combination with 5-fluorouracil application, layerby-layer keratoplasty and photomodification of the corneal part of the graft were performed in 11 patients with recurrent pterygium of III–IV degrees. After surgery, the patients were treated with antibiotics, corneorepairants, and corticosteroids after epithelialization as standard. The following conclusions can be drawn during the observation period of 5–7 years: the proposed method of combined treatment of recurrent forms of hymenoptera, including the application of layer-by-layer corneal transplantation, 5-fluorouracil and photomodification, allows not only to accelerate the process of postoperative adaptation of the graft, to avoid complications, to obtain almost absolute anatomy, cosmetic and functional effect, but also to completely avoid recurrences of this disease.
