This paper presents a novel design method for Printed-Circuit-Board (PCB) resonators consisting of two PCBs with an airgap. The resonators are accurately modeled using a third-order circuit and optimized for a specific target frequency of 13.56MHz. Furthermore, the coupling coefficient of the coupled coils formed by two resonators at different distances is rigorously analyzed and validated using the Hurley-Duffy Equation. The impedance characteristics of both the single resonator and the coupled coils are experimentally verified. A 48W experimental result demonstrates a transmission efficiency of 97.41% at 13.2 MHz for the designed coils.
