With the development of renewable energy sources and technological advancements, electric vehicles appear as a possible decarbonization and green transportation strategy for environmental needs. Researchers have undertaken many efforts and initiatives to fulfill the growing demand for sustainability in the electric vehicle industry. Integrating the building energy systems can bring numerous benefits for all the individual users and the entire energy ecosystem. Electric vehicles have become an easy way to get around. They are also valuable energy reserves. They transform the way of approaching energy consumption by shifting economies away from petroleum. They provide energy storage solutions and reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by participating in demand response programs, integrating renewable energy sources, and achieving cost savings. Electric vehicles are a critical resource for a sustainable energy future. The batteries of the EVs provide an untapped opportunity to store electricity from renewable energy sources. The study examines relevant industry research and thus analyzes the synergy between electric vehicles and building energy systems to create a connected energy ecosystem, identifying three key concepts: sustainable energy ecosystem, building energy systems, and charging. The article summarizes several recent topics on energy systems, intending to provide literature review-based considerations on electric vehicles in building energy systems that offer compelling advantages as they ensure sustainability while providing economic benefits
