Comprehensive analysis of macroscopic and microscopic features in medium-carbon steels using EMT and SPD, indicating significant impact on their properties.
The article presents the results of comprehensive studies of the structure and properties of the hardened surface layer of steels 45 and 55 formed as a result of a combined surface hardening technology consisting of electromechanical treatment (EMT) followed by surface plastic deformation (SPD). The analysis of macro- and microstructural features of the white layer formed by EMT + SPD is carried out. An assessment of the formation of a pattern of residual stresses on the elements of the macrostructure is proposed based on the transformation of the structure of the surface-hardened layer under the influence of a corrosive environment. The research results can be used to expand theoretical concepts and practical recommendations for the combined surface hardening technology EMT + SPD.
