This investigation compares electromechanical surface hardening and volumetric heat treatment effects on microhardness in cemented steel 20.
The study results of the structure and microhardness of cylindrical specimens of steel 20, cemented to a depth of 0.5 mm, after their hardening by the volumetric heat treatment and electromechanical surface hardening are presents. A comparative analysis of hardening methods has shown the effectiveness of electromechanical surface hardening. It forms high values of microhardness, which is necessary for producing the high quality cylindrical surfaces of various parts made of cemented steel.
