The article analyzes the problems and prospects for carrying out reclamation work in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. It is shown that it is urgently necessary to implement a set of organizational and agrotechnical measures: to ensure proper financing of land reclamation; carry out the reconstruction of old, ineffective and environmentally unfavorable reclamation systems; reduce the damage they cause to the environment and sectors of the national economy; introduce a soil-protective farming system, including, along with other measures, the creation of field-protective forest plantations, etc., which will help preserve soil fertility and reduce pollution of surface runoff with erosion products.
