Introduction Cochlear implant (CI) treatment places high demands on the service provider, who are obliged to offer lifelong aftercare. To enable an early hearing impression the initial fittings as part of basic therapy are often carried out in the immediate postoperative phase ("early fitting"). The use of basic and follow-up therapy by the patients is to be investigated in the present study.
