Introduction Acute mastoiditis in the context of acute otitis media is a common complication, especially in paediatric patients. The inflammation of the air-containing cells in the Processus mastoideus, which is usually accompanied by bone destruction, is usually caused by a bacterial infection. We report a case of acute mastoiditis due to Epstein-Barr virus infection.
