This article summarises the estimates of the social minimum in the second quarter of 2023. Although the modelled household spending continued to increase during this period, its growth rate was lower than in the first quarter. With the CPI for the second quarter of this year relative to the second quarter of 2022 (13.1%), the values of the social minimum increased at a higher degree: from 15.2% (working household with a younger child) to 18.3% (working household of a single person). When the reference point is the first quarter of this year, the values of the social minimum also increased faster. With a CPI value of 1.9%, the social minimum rose from 3.0% (in a household of two adults with a younger child) to 3.6% (in an employee household of two adults without children). The main reason for the faster increase in the social minimum was higher model expenditure on housing and energy (3.4% - 3.6% depending on household size), as compared to low (+0.2%) infla-tion rate in this group. The dynamics of the value of the food basket was also higher than the CPI. With inflation for this group of needs at +2.9%. the value of food increased the most in adult house-holds and in families with an older child (+3.8 - 3.9%).
