According to the stress concentration at the folded corner of the end of the cable joint when the explosion-proof high-voltage cable joint occurs short-circuit faults result in an explosion. The paper proposes a solution to optimize the folding corners into a rounded shape to alleviate the stress concentration in the end part of cable joint by differentiating from the existing research on the protection device using the solution of increasing the thickness at the folding corners by adding a large amount of cost. The radii of curvature of the two arcs affecting the stress concentration and the copper usage were designed orthogonally to form an orthogonal test table. According to the table, the finite element calculation based on multi-physical field coupling was carried out for the stress on the copper shell of the cable joint during the explosion, and the maximum stress on the end of the joint was obtained. The paper filtered out the combinations of arcs to meet the safety margin and found the combination with the least copper usage, to provide end arc design for explosion-proof cable joints.
