Design, analysis, and performance of dumbbell-shaped defected ground structure (DGS) microstrip patch antenna with probe fed is examined in this research study. The objective of this work is focused on obtaining low GHz frequency resonance which effectively supports by using DGS technique. Besides it, this technique also helps to increase the bandwidth and gain properties with the proposed dumbbell DGS slots placed with the conventional microstrip patch antennas. To overcome the problems with traditional microstrip antennas in iridium band, the DGS-based microstrip antenna is suggested in this study.Dumbbell shaped DGS is familiar and has advantageto support high bandwidth and moderate gain. The design process and simulation findingsof a dumbbell-shaped DGS antenna are simulated and presented in the paper.
