Former Hiroshima Army Clothing Depot was one of the most important military facilities for former military city Hiroshima. The existing four warehouses are the oldest reinforced concrete buildings in Japan, three of which are owned by the prefecture and will be reused in the future as the largest bombed buildings. The history of the atomic-bombing of this building has been noted, however, its history of reuse in post-war period has not received much attention, nor been researched. It has been converted as classrooms or dormitories for university or local high schools, warehouse for private companies, and has contributed to reconstruction and significant revival of Hiroshima as well. This study manifested detailed adoptive reuse of former Hiroshima Army Clothing Depot in postwar period collecting information based on literature surveys and interviews with former dormitory students and local residents, and relations with surrounding area.
