This study paid attention to the phenomenon of Korean language learners using the discourse marker 'Ije' when presenting and carefully observed it along with the Korean native speaker's presentation discourse. To examine the functions and usage patterns of the discourse marker 'Ije' when used by learners and native speakers during presentations, recordings of presentations were collected from 30 participants and analyzed. Through previous research and data analysis, this study identified five discourse functions of 'Ije', which are 'buying time', 'emphasis on speech', 'topic shift', 'semantic connection' and 'supplementary explanation'. Analyzing the usage of 'Ije' in presentation materials revealed that 'buying time' was the representative function of 'Ije' as a discourse marker. In general, it was frequently used in presentations in the following order: buying time > emphasis on speech > topic shift > semantic connection > supplementary explanation. Furthermore, the study analyzed the commonalities and differences in the use of 'Ije' by Korean language learners and native speakers for each discourse function, revealing numerous characteristics. Ultimately, this research can be of assistance in helping Korean language learners better utilize the pragmatic functions of the discourse marker 'Ije' in their presentations in the future.
