The Zr metal–organic framework (MOF) UiO-66 was shaped into beads using chitosan and P3O105− as a cross-linker. The obtained UiO-66–chitosan beads showed decreases in pore size and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area but enhanced N2 adsorption energy with retention of Zr-ligand connectivity. This finding will provide an important insight into the practical application of MOFs.
