Estimation of the Accuracy of Determining the Parameters of Affine Transformations

This work is devoted to evaluating the accuracy of determining the parameters of affine transformations in an image. The parameters of the affine transformation are calculated using an algorithm based on the selection of reference points and determining their position in the current image regarding to the original one. The expressions for correlation matrix of error estimates of transformation parameters, a variance for each point are derived. In contrast to the previous works of the authors, an analysis of the accuracy of determining the parameters is extended to the affine transformation. The experimental studies performed demonstrate the dependency of the accuracy of image registration on the location of the reference points.
