In the realm of 3D reconstruction, the precision and robustness of image matching are pivotal. This study introduces a novel approach that harnesses the capabilities of Key.Net for feature point extraction and AdaLAM for feature point matching, integrated within a deep learning framework. Such an integration of Key.Net and AdaLAM within our deep learning framework not only improves the accuracy of 3D reconstructions but also streamlines the process, making it more efficient. The substantial advancement over traditional approaches of our proposed method was validated in a competitive setting, specifically in the Kaggle competition Image Matching Challenge 2023. In this competition, our algorithm based on this single pipeline achieved a remarkable mean Average Accuracy (mAA) score of 0.524. This outstanding performance could lead to the sixth position on the leaderboard, earning us a gold competition medal. This achievement demonstrates the superiority of our approach in a real-world scenario, and sheds light on significant implications for various applications, including virtual reality, autonomous navigation, and cultural heritage preservation. Furthermore, our findings contribute to the broader understanding of image matching techniques in computer vision, highlighting the potential of integrating specialized deep learning models for enhanced performance in complex tasks.
