Introduction- Thyroid disorder affects 2.3–3.8% of expectant mothers. The commonest thyroid disorder in pregnancy is maternal hypothyroidism. Cord blood TSH is a recognized method of screening for hypothyroidism at birth. The "APGAR SCORE" was used to measure fetal discomfort in newborns. The purpose of this study was to examine the impact of maternal and cord blood TSH levels on fetal discomfort. The study was conducted on 100 postpartum females fullling th Material and method- e inclusion criteria and their neonates enrolled in Zanana Hospital attached to S.M.S. Hospital, Jaipur. After obtaining their informed written consent, detailed history was taken and blood sample was drawn,Cord Blood samples were also taken .Newborns APGAR scoring was routinally done. TSH was analysed and data was evaluated statistiacally. There is a signicant positive correlation between Result and discussion- maternal TSH and cord blood TSH levels. In our study there is signicant negative correlation between APGAR score with maternal TSH and cord blood TSH. The Cord Blood TSH was lower in neonates with fetal distress or needing advanced resuscitation after birth than neonates receiving routine care and the difference was statistically non-signicant p>0.05). Therefore, in all children with neurological sy Conclusion- mptoms who were exposed to severe hypoxia or had low Apgar scores, we recommend a thorough evaluation of thyroid function.
