• India has the third-highest rate of cancer cases worldwide. It is anticipated that the number of cases of cancer will rise from 1.46 million in 2022 to 1.57 million in 2025. • India's cancer registry consists of both hospital-based cancer registries (HBCRs) and population-based cancer registries (PBCRs). • The current National Cancer Registry Programme (NCRP) is commendable and used by multiple studies including the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study, it truly only reflects a small portion of India's vast and heterogeneous population. • There are currently no available statistics for analysis from some of the more populated States, like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. A further factor aggravating the lack of data is inadequate treatment guidelines.
