The use of distributed generators in distribution systems has been growing in recent years because of their sustainability and low pollution. The ant colony optimization (ACO) algorithm, an effective optimization method, is presented in this study to help determine the optimal placement and sizing of capacitors and DG in order to reduce the network's overall active power loss. The application of the optimization algorithm to the IEEE 33-bus standard distribution system and 85 bus system with DG and capacitor banks (CB) illustrates the algorithm's performance. The outcomes showed how well the ACO worked to optimize the placement and size of the DG and CB while achieving a significant reduction in the real power losses of the system.
