Van der Waals stacking engineering presents a potent strategy for achieving specialized functionality and high-performance optoelectronic devices. Herein, we report the development of a self-powered photodetector with high performance and polarization sensitive based on a Ta2PdS6/MoTe2 heterojunction. Leveraging the inherent photovoltaic effect (PVE), the as-fabricated device demonstrates exemplary optoelectronic characteristics at zero bias, characterized by a broad spectral response extending from visible to near-infrared (405–1310 nm) spectrum. The device achieved a high responsivity of 474 mA/W and a swift response time of 107/98 <tex-math notation="LaTeX">μ s </tex-math> . Remarkably, the intrinsic anisotropic properties of the 2-D Ta2PdS6 nanosheets endow the Ta2PdS6/MoTe2 heterojunction with exceptional polarization sensitivity, recording a value of 3.56 under 635-nm polarized light. This finding significantly advances the state of Ta2PdS6/MoTe2 heterostructures, demonstrating their considerable promise for the next generation of high-performance and self-powered optoelectronic applications.
