Observational analysis shows seasonal flow rate behavior in the Caeté River Basin, highlighting regulation needs for water use.
Objective: The objective is to establish and standardize measurement sites, with location specifications, in the Caeté River Basin; analyze primary flow measurement data; analyze secondary data from the Fluviometric Station; and determine flow behavior. Theoretical Framework: The study focuses on research in the River Basin and calculations of flow measurements using different measurement methods. Knowledge of flow rates favors regulation for water use authorizations. Method: The Caeté River Basin covers an area of 2,141.96 km2, with a main river length of 149 km. It drains part of six municipalities in the state of Pará. There are five flow measurement points in the municipality of Bonito, using the Hydrometric Vane and Float Method, as well as one point in Bragança, using data from the Fluviometric Station managed by ANA. Results and Discussion: The study indicated a higher average flow rate in April and a lower average flow rate in December. The flow rate in Bonito was similar to that in Bragança, with increases and decreases in flow throughout the year. The study showed a seasonal component with a 12-month factor. The established model can make predictions similar to what can be observed in past values, with a good future estimate. Research Implications: The identified result of seasonal flow rate behavior, given the limited or lack of data available in hydrographic regions, impacts water use permit regulations. Originality/Value: Flow monitoring, responsible for unprecedented results, spanning a year of on-site research.
