Purpose: This study seeks to integrate and visualise research on green banking. The analysis distinguishes central themes, key articles and major gaps to facilitate the understanding of how green banking has been developed and how it contributes to sustainability and environmental protection. Need for the study: The importance of environment-friendly business practices has raised the interest of scholars in green banking. Even with considerable literature, mapping the body of literature that shows research trends, gaps and future directions will be important in helping scholars and policymakers to bridge the gaps in the less researched aspects of green banking. Methodology: This study uses a bibliometric analysis of the 114 publications indexed in Scopus using Biblioshiny and Vosviewer software. Measures such as citation trends, keyword frequency, thematic mapping and authors’ and institutions’ networks were extracted and analysed to understand the discipline comprehensively. Findings: Research on green banking is concentrated in environmental and management journals, driven by collaborations from Australia, India and Bangladesh, peaking in 2021 with themes like sustainable banking and green credit policies. Practical implications: The findings provide insights for academicians, policymakers and practitioners, highlighting research trends, guiding global green banking standards and suggesting future exploration of niche topics like green credit and broader database integration.
