This investigation reveals how abrasive wear affects hardness in ploughshare, suggesting improved hardening technologies.
When contacting with the soil, the ploughshare undergoes intense loads, which leads to its abrasive wear and determines the requirements for physical-mechanical properties, in particular hardness. The study results on increasing the hardness of the working area due to additional hardening in contact with abrasive particles are presented. The features of heat treatment of pre-eutectoid steels, including incomplete quenching and low-temperature tempering, are considered. The obtained results can be used to optimize production processes and predict the service life of parts subject to abrasive wear. Conclusions about the need to develop hardening technologies in order to improve the operability of parts under conditions of intense abrasive action were drawn.
