Curiosity Development in Preschool Childrenby Means of Lego Construction

The article emphasises that the modern educational curriculum of preschool education should ensure the development of children’s interests, curiosity and cognitive motivation; the formation of cognitive processes; the development of imagination and creative activity. The author examines the theoretical foundations of the curiosity development in preschool childrenand substantiates the peculiarities of forming cognitive interest as an inclination towards everything new, which contributes to the development of curiosity. LEGO construction is proposed as one of the innovations which effectively develop the curiosity in preschoolers. The educational possibilities of LEGO construction in fostering preschool children’s curiosity arealso justified; the methodology features for developing curiosity in preschool children by means of LEGO construction are described; a set of LEGO construction games for the development of curiosity in preschool children is presented.
