Space safety analysis reveals conjunction risks for SDGSAT-1, supporting future operational planning.
SDGSAT-1 is an innovative satellite sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, which has attained fruitful scientific results as of Jul. 2025. It aims to achieve the fine depiction of “traces of human activities”. Since its launch in Nov. 2021, three and a half years have passed. It is necessary to assess its in-orbit space safety so that more operational plans can be efficiently made for SDGSAT-1. Authors have a confounded simulation about its possible conjunctions with the neighboring flying objects in space. The online orbit data set for a vast number of objects is considered; by means of online software SOCRATES Plus, the authors have presented the conjunction statistics for SDGSAT-1, which will help staff at the ground operation center to grasp the updated situation of SDGSAT-1.
