Analysis reveals green insurance promotes proactive environmental behavior in corporations, suggesting improvements to current systems.
With the increasingly severe global ecological and environmental problems, enterprises, as key entities in environmental governance, the standardization and upgrading of their environmental protection behaviors have become an important issue. Green insurance, as an innovative tool connecting environmental risk prevention and control with financial services, exerts multi-dimensional impacts on corporate environmental protection behaviors through risk transfer, economic incentives, and supervision and restraint mechanisms. Starting from the theoretical mechanism of how green insurance affects corporate environmental protection behaviors, this paper analyzes the problems existing in current practice, and puts forward paths to optimize the green insurance system to strengthen corporate environmental protection behaviors by drawing on international experience. The study finds that green insurance can promote enterprises to shift from passive compliance to active environmental protection through means such as premium differentiation, loss compensation, and third-party evaluation. However, issues such as insufficient product coverage and low corporate participation willingness need to be addressed. This research provides theoretical reference and practical insights for improving green financial policies and promoting the sustainable development of enterprises.
