Qualitative analysis highlights halal tourism's potential and challenges in South Kalimantan, suggesting collaborative efforts for better economic growth.
Halal tourism has become a strategic sector in supporting local economic growth and community welfare. This research aims to analyze the potential, challenges and contribution of halal tourism in South Kalimantan to improving community welfare. Using a qualitative approach, data was obtained through interviews, observations and literature studies related to halal tourism policies and implementation in this region. The research results show that South Kalimantan has great potential to develop halal tourism thanks to its rich Islamic culture, religious tourism destinations, and local government support. However, challenges such as lack of infrastructure, halal tourism education, and limited promotion need to be addressed immediately. Optimal implementation of halal tourism can increase local community income through business opportunities, create jobs, and encourage social and cultural sustainability. This research recommends strengthening collaboration between the government, business actors and the community in developing halal tourism as a strategic effort to improve prosperity in South Kalimantan.
