This report describes management of severe ectropion in a neonate with lamellar ichthyosis, highlighting multidisciplinary care.
This case report discusses a male neonate diagnosed with congenital lamellar ichthyosis (LI), characterized by hyperkeratinization and severe ectropion. Born at 36 weeks of gestation, the infant presented with a collodion membrane, facial edema, significant skin desquamation, and bilateral severe ectropion shortly after birth. Following referral to our facility, he received intensive care, including hydration support and dermatological treatment with emollients. Ophthalmological care involved lubricant eye drops and regular cleansing, leading to marked improvement by day 7. This case emphasizes the vital significance of prompt diagnosis and multidisciplinary management in enhancing the outcomes and quality of life for infants with LI.
