Study examines how ultrasonic treatment affects ion implantation and dislocation density in titanium alloys.
The effect of ultrasonic treatment before ion implantation of titanium alloy VT6, made with silver, on thickness of the ion-alloyed layer, distribution of silver in thickness of this layer and scalar density of dislocations in the subsurface layer has been examined. It was established that for the alloy VT6 at the same parameters of the implantation regime, the performance of pre-ultrasonic treatment led to a decrease in thickness of the ion-alloyed layer, an increase in the concentration of implanted silver and scalar density of dislocations in the sublayer with the induced dislocation structure. Complex treatment which includes ultrasound treatment and ion implantation reduces wear of exposed VT6 alloy samples.
