Integration improves decision-making in oil and gas by using a dynamic simulation model with advanced data management.
This document outlines the integration between the data source system and specialized software applications for fluid production and simulation. A key challenge in this process is achieving interoperability between two core solution components: the Production Data Management System (PDMS) and the transient state simulation software. Notably, the latter does not require a live database connection, which adds complexity to the integration. It is important to highlight that TPL and PPL files are among the deliverables, providing trend and profile graphs intended for end-user visualization. The challenge of integrating these two technologies will be addressed through the Open Platform Communications (OPC) protocol integration. The production monitoring application and simulation application, which enable the use of protocol, make it possible to assign the required variables to obtain the necessary data for simulation execution purposes. Once the data flow is established, the workflow between the production and fluid simulation area is enabled. These results are in a dynamic simulation model, which presents a real-time update of the production data necessary for the analysis of transients that will allow the optimization of the operational processes. This implementation will provide daily support to production and engineering professionals in monitoring tasks and scenario planning, enabling them to evaluate the impact of proposed changes to enhance production or ensure safe operations. The solution also enables the generation what-if scenarios based on the sensitivity of variables such as: Pressure increases, slugs frequency prediction, estimation of maximum volume of liquid generated by slug, losses due to volatilization if diluent is used, optimization of the diluent at critical points, improvements in the quality of data management from the PDMS thanks to the alerts programmed on the user is screens, prediction of the presence of paraffin or asphaltene along the flowline, identification of areas or points susceptible to corrosion. An automated simulation model facilitates the identification of operational problems and critical points in gathering systems on time and reduces uncertainty in decision-making. Digital transformation into dynamic simulation is a challenge in integrating two technologies: production monitoring application and dynamic simulation for transient state analysis.
