The Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea is promoting various projects to promote Korean studies through the Korean Studies Promotion Project Group of the Korea Research Institute. In particular, it is focusing on fostering Korean scholars abroad and fostering research and education bases. A total of 75 universities were promoted from August 2006 to 2022 with the support of four universities, University of California, Los Angeles (United States of America), University of Washington (United States of America), University of London (United Kingdom), University of New South Wales (Australia). Kazan Federal University began its overseas Korean studies promotion project on June 1, 2016. Seven years later, it is necessary to find a direction for Kazan Federal University’s Korean studies and its core project to move forward. Accordingly, it is necessary to investigate and analyze the contents of core projects among Korean studies at major universities around the world. The surveys include George Washington University’s strengthening global exchange and inclusion of Korean studies in the US capital, the University of Edinburgh’s consolidation of the University of Edinburgh’s Korean Studies Institute, and Johann Wolfgang Goethe University’s innovative education, research, and Korean studies through regional cooperation in Germany. Research goals, project details, and expected effects are analyzed to find implications for Peking University’s research and education system establishment leading modern and contemporary Korean studies and Korea-China relations in China.
