Analysis identifies economic growth strategies through logistics centers and road infrastructure in Champasak, suggesting regulatory reforms and capacity-building programs.
This study aims to develop a logistics master plan for Champasak Province in southern Lao PDR through collaboration with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) and local authorities, supported by Korea's ODA technical assistance. Despite its strategic location near Thailand and Cambodia, Champasak faces significant constraints in logistics infrastructure, resulting in high transport costs and low value-added services. A comprehensive analysis of the province's logistics conditions was conducted to identify development priorities. The study proposes both short- and long-term measures, including land reservation for logistics hubs, regulatory reforms, introduction of digital customs systems, and capacity-building programs. In the longer term, phased expansion of road infrastructure, development of logistics centers, and application of smart logistics technologies are recommended. The proposed plan is expected to strengthen the region's connectivity, enhance logistics competitiveness, and support broader economic growth in southern Laos.
