The novel device enhances safety and adaptability in emergency rescue operations, improving performance under impact loads.
The rapid docking of hydraulic lines without manual intervention and the reliable connection under impact loads present significant challenges to current hydraulic quick-coupling technology. This paper presents a novel automatic hydraulic quick-coupling device (AHQCD), which consists of three primary modules. The working principle underlying the achievement of rapid docking is analyzed. To ensure a reliable connection, a flow characteristic equation has been derived based on a cascaded pipeline. The detachment force under working conditions has been quantitatively estimated, and the detachment responses under static and impact pressure loads have been investigated. An auxiliary clamping mechanism based on pressure feedback has been proposed to enhance operational capacity and adaptability to various working conditions. The results indicate that the novel AHQCD is compatible with multiple hydraulic tools with the valve port opening remaining above 90%, ensuring the reliability of hydraulic transmission. The AHQCD proposed in this paper can meet the requirements of multifunctionality, safety, and efficiency in emergency rescue operations, as well as address a technical shortcoming in the modular assembly and disassembly of airdropped rescue robots or construction machinery in rescue scenarios within the shortest time possible.
